Bishop Robert Arthur Pitts is a native Washingtonian and a graduate of the Washington D.C. Public Schools. He further advanced his education and preparation for the ministry of God’s Word, by attending the Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland from 1967 to 1972.
Bishop Pitts is a devoted husband and father. He is the husband of First Lady Esther Louise Pitts. He has two daughters, Elder Adrian Partlow and Ashley Pitts; four sons, Aaron, Antoine, Allen Michael, and Kashmir; two grandsons, Malcolm and Clyde III; one granddaughter, Jasmine and one son-in-law, Deacon Clyde Partlow, Jr.
He started his journey with four members in a Community Bible Class in his home. While at Little Rock Bible Way Church, under the leadership of the late Bishop Arthur L. Pressley, he became a Deacon, working faithfully, he discovered a joy and peace in serving the Lord. It was no great surprise to those who knew him, that, as Deacon Pitts he would subsequently be ordained a full minister of the gospel.
He dedicated his time in getting the word to the people of the goodness of God, so he did as Jesus of Nazareth had done over two-thousand years ago. He spread the word of the goodness of God everywhere he went tirelessly. He later became known as the “Street Preacher” while working with the late Bishop John Lamb at Gospel Ark Bible Way Church.
The Lord was not finished with him; he wanted him to minister to his own flock. In August of 1980 he founded Community Temple Bible Way Church of our Lord Jesus Christ. A year later, in 1981 the church merged with the Bible Way organization. As a result, the church was renamed: “COMMUNITY TEMPLE CHURCH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, BIBLE WAY WORLDWIDE”.
The Lord yet continued to bless the Pastor and church. The Lord has continued to add to the church and has further blessed his people. The lord has guided him in appointing various saints into positions in the church that have proven to glorify the Kingdom of God.
